Directions to Camp Winnataska

Click here for a google map.

*Important note about google maps/other mapping devices: Camp has a number of unpaved roads only used for maintenance vehicles.  Many mapping systems label an unmarked maintenance road on the right as Winnataska Drive.  In that case, the visitor entrance  (the paved Winnataska Drive) is just further down Winnataska Road on the right if you are following the directions below. It is well-marked with a stone and wooden sign.

If you are coming from Birmingham:

Take I-20 E (towards Atlanta) and take the MOODY Exit, #147. Turn RIGHT at the end of the exit ramp.

  • Go .2 miles. You will pass a a Valero gas station on your left.
  • Immediately after the Valero, TURN LEFT onto HIGHWAY 78.
  • Travel on HIGHWAY 78 for 2 miles.
  • Turn RIGHT onto WINNATASKA ROAD. This is a small and winding road. Stay on WINNATASKA ROAD for 2.5 miles.
  • As you pass COCHRAN TRAIL/SEQUOYAH ROAD on the right, look for the sign that says, "Camp Winnataska, 1/4 mile on right." This is a very sharp bend in the road, and you will be veering left to stay on WINNATASKA ROAD.
  • In .25 mile, turn RIGHT onto WINNATASKA DRIVE, at the large wooden and stone sign.
  • The parking lot for visitors is labeled and is on the left.
