Friends of Winnataska

The mission of FOW: Friends of Winnataska, Inc. raises and manages funding for the benefit of Camp Winnataska, so that the camp’s staff and volunteers may carry out the purposes of operating a traditional summer camping program each summer at Camp Winnataska. The camp also offers adventures and overnight opportunities to the general public from August through May.

FOW welcomes financial support from individuals and families, corporations and businesses, foundations and other granting organizations. The Winnataska endowment and Annual Fund were established in 1998 to provide long-term sustainability of Winnataska. One of our first efforts was the “brick campaign” at Hillside. For this venture, people can still purchase bricks honoring or memorializing individuals or families. We are undertaking numerous new initiatives to enhance “the camp we love the best of all,” including fund-raising events, donation requests, and grant-writing.
FOW has embarked on a new fundraising campaign to help Camp Winnataska celebrate its upcoming 100th birthday, please visit our FOW website to learn how you can help us continue to Follow the Gleam!

A message from Friends of Winnataska:
You will hear soon about some exciting plans for the well-being of Camp Winnataska. In the meantime, we encourage everyone who loves Winnataska to begin considering making a heartfelt contribution - and all amounts are treasured! We are working toward an endowment for sustainability, plus many programming, facility, landscaping, and capital needs. Several large capital projects are being evaluated, including a new road bridge, as the existing one was damaged by a tremendous, falling pine tree. Our main focus remains our traditional summer camping, but everything we add to the camp site will make Winnataska more available and more accessible to retreat and conference groups, providing new opportunities for enjoyment in the great Alabama out-of-doors.

We are proud to have made a significant leap in financial stability through Friends of Winnataska, Inc. We hope that you, like knights of old, will search your hearts and assist our meritorious goals. We hope you find FOW to be worthy of attaining the realization of our collective dreams! Your funds will be wisely used. Please visit the FOW website to donate online or send your tax-deductible contributions to:
