Pueblo Hut Songs

We're fighting hard for you, Pueblo,
P-U-E-B-L-O
The girls are the fairest
And always the squarest
Of any old hut we know;
We're fighting hard for you, Pueblo,
P-U-E-B-L-O
In all kinds of weather
We'll all stick together
For P-U-E-B-L-O!

P-U-E (answer) B-L-O
P-U-E (answer) B-L-O
Glory, glory to old Pueblo,
Glory, glory to old Pueblo,
Glory, glory to old Pueblo,
P-U-E-B-L-O!

Tune: "Morning Has Broken"
(2nd Camp, 1973)

Pueblos are singing, spirits are ringing,
Camp girls show love for Winnataska.
Praise for her singing, Praise for her spirit,
Praise for her joys shared here in Pueblo.

Friendships are made here, happily growing.
Bright sun gives warm days, hours so dear.
Singing of good times, loving our new friends.
These are the true joys we share in Pueblo.

We'll be together, sharing our treasures,
Found in each glad day, Pueblo has brought.
Seasons may change and will go on.
Still she remains as our happy home.

Tune: "I Wish We'd All Been Ready"
(4th Camp, 1973, Cindy Caheen)

There comes a time in each girl's life
When she must go away from home and make new friends.
That's what we found in Pueblo.
We spread our cheer throughout the camp,
Our smiling faces light the lamp of Christian love.
That's what we share in Pueblo.
From dawn to dusk we feel we must
Fulfill our duties with respect and trust.
The hope we have within our hearts
To better Pueblo in the ways that she should grow.
We strive for this in Pueblo
And as the days go fleeting by,
The time will come to cry as we all head for home,
But we'll be brave for Pueblo.
Pueblo's become a part of us.
She means a lot to each of us.
The spirit of the camp we love has reached for us and
Changed all of our lives, Changed all of our lives.

Tune: "Diary" by Bread
(1st Camp, 1972)

We were lost in cloudy skies,
They we found Pueblo.
Sunshine chased the clouds away,
We knew our hearts were here to stay.
Joy is found in Pueblo.

Chorus:

We found a hut with love for everyone,
That will last 'til camp is done,
Our Winnataska spirit never dies,
You can see it in our eyes.

Our high hopes were all fulfilled
When we found Pueblo.
Pueblo made our lives complete,
Gave us victory o'er defeat,
Joy is found in Pueblo.

(Repeat Chorus)

In our lives there's new dimension
Since we found Pueblo.
We are more than just a throng
Our spark of zeal is swept along
Joy is found in Pueblo.

(Repeat last line)

Tune: Original Tune
(1969, Debbie Boucher)

Like a clock that tells no time,
Here's a song that has no rhyme.
But listen close and you will know,
How we love Pueblo.

I do believe
It's like a dream
When you wake up and find a home
Where you're not alone.

Pueblo opens blinded eyes,
Shatters bleak and cloudy skies.
As the Son leads our way
We have come to stay.

In Pueblo sweetly you'll grow
Filled with visions of life and love
From the Lord Above.

(Sing all the way through the first time then split into two groups)
(Group #1 sings - Pueblo opens...
Group #2 sings - I do believe...

Group #1 sings - In Pueblo...
Group #2 sings - Like a clock...)

Tune: "I'll Say Goodbye To Love"
(3rd Camp, 1973)

At first when we arrived
We felt that we did not have any place to go,
But little did we know that soon we'd find a home in Pueblo.
And now that we live so happily together
Friendships are forever.

For some it is the first time to be away from home,
In Pueblo there's no loneliness, for no girl stands alone.
We've finally found a hut that we can call our very own.

Although our days at camp are numbered only ___ (# days),
We've come to realize that even though we'll go our separate ways,
We'll all come back again.
So in the meantime, memories will linger
Of Winnataska summers
And it's goodbye Pueblo,
Goodbye Pueblo.

Tune: "500 Miles"
(1967)

We are the Pueblo girls
And we're proud of our name.
And our love for our camp
Adds to our fame.

Friendship true is our quest
As we'll strive to do our best,
And the Winnataska spirit is our test.

Growing spiritually in mind
As the heaven-seeking pines

We will learn and thereby
Following happier be.
The road to Winnwood we will take,
Climbing, following the leader's gait.
And the Winnataska spirit will hold our fate.

Sunlight sparkling on the falls,
Cheers our hearts to accomplish all,
For the Pueblo hut of which we are a part.

The Pueblo hut will long be missed.
But we'll always hold to this
The Winnataska spirit in our heart.

Tune: "Buttermilk Hill"
(1968)

Pueblo sits on top the hill,
Pride of Winnataska.
Everyday we'll cherish her more,
We will n'er forget her.

Spirit is strong and teamwork, too.
It was there friendship grew.
We always strive to meet our goals.
We will n'er forget her.

Comanches teach us games and skills,
Take us hiking in the hills.
Love for Winnataska builds,
We will n'er forget her.

Every night a different sight,
Holy Grail and Indian night.
Galilean, song night, too.
We will n'er forget her.

When our days at camp are done,
We'll remember all our fun.
The joys we've shared in Pueblo hut,
We will n'er forget her.

Tune: "As Tears Go By"

We've come to tell you how we love Pueblo,
When you live here your heart will grow.
With love and happiness this hut's the best.
Pueblo, you know we hate to go!

We have traditions that we love
That come to us from up above
They teach us how to love both friend and foe.
Pueblo, you know we hate to go!

We've come to know and love each other
God showed us how to love our brother.
We work together for this camp.
We're blessed with Winnataska's stamp.
Pueblo, you know we hate to go!

(Hum first two lines of 3rd verse then sing:)

We work together for this camp.
We're blessed with Winnataska's stamp.
Pueblo, you know we hate to go!
Pueblo, you know we hate to go!

Tune: "I Looked For Love"
(3rd Camp, 1972)

There is a hut on the hill called Pueblo.
The girls are proud and they shout it with joy.
We love this camp and so
In our hearts we'll never go
And we'll always remember the name of Pueblo.

There's time here for fun
And there's much to be done.
Comanches are our guides
And with them by our sides
We'll always know the way.
And in our hearts they'll always stay.
And we'll always remember the name of Pueblo.

With all this beauty
You can see God's hand at work.
Day by day we grown in His trust
And to all these things we owe our memories of Pueblo.
And we'll always remember the hut we love so.

Have you been out to Winnataska,
Found the hut with the cutest gals
From whom you’ll pick your pals?
And just watch them go
And then you’ll know
What fun it is to be a camp-girl.
What’s more, to be a Pueble, too!
Of all the camp tribes it’s the best;
It will always lead the rest.
So Pueble hut, here’s a rousing cheer for you (you) (half)
Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da. (half)
